Thanksgiving

Thank you to our 74 Thanksgiving volunteers! 135 delicious boxed lunches with turkey sandwiches, corn salad, cranberry sauce, sweet breads, potato ships and water made (only one eaten by a squirrel), preparers and guests safely masked and distanced, 134 people served (including a few vegetarian and gluten free lunches), and all cleaned up by 2:15 p.m. (a record for the books!)

A dozen people roasted turkey breasts at home and brought them for slicing on Thursday morning.
Homemade cranberry and banana bread was sliced in the morning.
The physically distant assembly line
A thanksgiving prayer was added to each box.
300 cups were filled with cranberry sauce and corn salad.
Fresh lettuce!
Cranberry sauce with pineapple anyone?
A family closes up all the filled boxes.
The serving crew!

White Fragility Book Discussion

Thursday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Join us to discuss the book White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, The New York Times best-selling book exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality.

Reading this Atlantic Monthly article that gives a critique of the book will help us discuss what Black authors are saying about this book by a White author.

Here is a link to the reading guide:  https://www.beacon.org/assets/pdfs/whitefragilityreadingguide.pdf
